Icon Audio MB30 single-ended mono amplifiers
OverviewNews 11 Jun 2013 ---
The new MB30SE monoblocks from Icon Audio are now playing with us in the demo room. The power of up to 27 watts, is solid for a single-ended amplifier, usually giving amplifiers according to this principle a power of 2 to 10 watts.
However, this amplifier does not require excessively sensitive speakers. Also on loudspeakers with a sensetivity of 87dB and higher, this amplifier will perform well with sufficient sound pressure and persuasiveness.
The MB30 uses a single KT120 per channel. The single-ended principle uses this single tube to take both the push and the pull of the signal. The Class A setting increases the signal without acquisition phenomena that occur with regular amplifiers.
The front is equipped with a Bias meter for on-the-fly current setting and a switch to choose between triode and ultralinear operation.
The detail in the view is fantastic, the drive impressive!
