Monitor Audio GOLD series 5: Gold with a platinum edge

The Monitor Audio Gold Series has been a name among connoisseurs for more than fifteen years. This newest fifth generation has been improved again by applying technology from the "Platinum" top line.

The layer unit is now an RDT II * and has grown to 165 or 203 mm. The motor (voice coil + magnet) has also become considerably more powerful. The 64 mm C-CAM mid unit with a higher load capacity, has been specially developed for this series. The high range is provided by the unique MPD * high frequency transducer. With all its advantages such as superior transient display beyond 100 kHz, very low distortion and a very wide display image. The mid- and high-units are now together in a separate compact metal injection-molded housing. As a result, among other things, the mutual distance has become as small as possible and that provides the desired near-point source characteristic and thus a very wide and homogeneous listening area.

All speaker units are bolt through mounted: clamped through the rear panel with one long bolt in / on the front panel. This prevents resonances in the front panel and at the same time also reinforces the housing.

The fabric grille is invisibly magnetically attached: the front panel has no annoying holes if you use the speaker without a grille.

Other features include silver cabling, selected filter components, (handmade) 18 mm thick housing (prevents internal resonances), solid metal connection panel with gold-plated bi-wire connectors, heavy metal 'spike' stands for the floor stands, deep gloss piano lacquer finish ( black or ebony, now without surcharge) and a 'soft touch' finish on the top.
