With an Audio Streamer you can play music files that are stored somewhere.
* That could be somewhere on a NAS (Network Attached Storage), a kind of computer connected to a router.
* A hard drive, memory card or USB stick
* A streaming service such as Tidal, Qobuz or Spotify
* Internet radio

There are streamers with built-in Digital Analog Converters, which, just like a CD player, have to be connected to an amplifier, which in turn drives speakers.
A Streaming Transport needs an external DAC to make the music audible to us.

The final result will depend on many factors - of course the streamer itself, but also the file format (WAV, FLAC, MP3 etc.) and the bitrate.
