Audio-Technica is a Japanese manufacturer of microphones, headphones and turntable elements. Audio-Technica was founded in 1962 by Hideo Matsushita and is based in Tokyo.
In 1962, the manufacture of elements for record players was started, and from 1969 onwards they were distributed worldwide. Five years later, the production of headphones also started; the first product to roll off the line was the AT700. In this year, the 15-el element became the winner of the Stereo Components Grand Prix competition.
